Amjad Alkadri, MD, is Chairman of the Radiology Department at Porter. He earned his medical degree from Damascus University in Damascus, Syria and served his residency at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan. He completed an interventional and vascular fellowship at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Dr. Alkadri is also Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center.

 

Keith Atassi, MD, is Chief of Porter’s Cath Lab, and a member of the hospital’s Board and has been a member of Porter’s medical staff since 1991. Dr. Atassi earned his medical degree from Damascus University in Damascus, Syria and completed a fellowship in cardiology from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and the University of Wisconsin. He is a principal investigator for many research projects relating to the field of interventional cardiology.

 

Raghuram Dasari, MD, specializes in the field of Cardiac Electrophysiology. He earned his medical degree at the State University of New York Health Science Center at Syracuse, NY. He completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and a fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at Loyola University Medical Center. He has also completed many clinical research projects in the field of cardiac electrophysiology.

 

Mark Dixon, DO, is Director of Porter’s Electrophysiology Lab. Dr. Dixon earned his medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri. He completed a fellowship in cardiology from Chicago Osteopathic Medical Center in Chicago. He has completed many clinical research projects in the field of cardiac electrophysiology.

 

 

John Forchetti, MD, is President of the Cardiac and Vascular Institute, Medical Director of Porter’s Cardiac Rehab Unit as well as a health consultant for the Duneland School Corporation. He serves on both the Porter County Board of Health as well as the Board for the VNA Foundation Board. Dr. Forchetti holds a medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, cardiology fellowship from Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s, and internal medicine residency from Michael Reese. He maintains fellowships in the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions.

Fred Harris, MD, is Chief of Porter’s Cardiology Department. He earned his degree from the University of California Davis and completed a fellowship in cardiology also at the University of California. Dr. Harris specializes in interventional cardiology and is also active in leadership roles as a member of the Medical Executive Committee, the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee, and Co-Chairman of the Physician Leadership Group.

 

Thomas Kalmbach, MD, is a thoracic surgeon. Dr. Kalmbach earned his medical degree from Tel Aviv University in Tel Aviv, Israel and went on to complete his residencies in both general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery at the State University of New York, School of Medicine. He completed fellowships with the American College of Chest Physicians, the American College of Cardiology, and the American College of Surgeons.

 

Scott Kaufman, DO, earned his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, graduating in the top 5% of his class. He completed a fellowship in cardiology at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and a fellowship in electrophysiology and pacing at Illinois Masonic Medical Center. He is also active in clinical research projects to advance the field of electrophysiology.

 

Walid Khabbaz, MD, is the Chair for the Center for Heart Valve Disease. He earned his medical degree from Damascus University in Damascus, Syria and completed his training at the University of Illinois in Chicago and Saint Louis University. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Indiana University Northwest.

 

Akram Kholoki, MD, earned his medical degree from the University of Damascus, School of Medicine in Damascus, Syria. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Illinois in Chicago. He also completed a fellowship in cardiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He specializes in cardiovascular disease.

 

Daniel Linert, MD, is Vice Chief of Cardiology for Porter and a member of the hospital’s Quality Management Committee. He earned his medical degree from University of Illinois in Chicago. He also completed a fellowship in cardiology from William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. His specializes in the treatment of cardiovascular disease.

 

 

Hector Marchand, MD, specializes in the evaluation, prevention, and treatment of atherosclerosis with an emphasis on risk factor modification. He earned his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico, and completed his internship and residency at the Cleveland Clinic. He completed a fellowship in cardiology from Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Marchand serves on the Medical Advisory Board and Speakers Bureau for leading national pharmaceutical firms.

M.S. Rao, MD, specializes in the treatment of cardiovascular disease. He earned his medical degree from Karnatak University, India. He completed a fellowship with Chicago Medical School Affiliated Hospital. Dr. Rao is certified in both cardiovascular disease and internal medicine. He is a member of the Capital Steering Committee for Porter Hospital.

 

 

Sandeep Sehgal, MD, specializes in interventional cardiology, particularly in peripheral and carotid arterial disease management. He earned his medical degree from MGM Medical College & M.Y. Hospital in Indore, India. He completed a fellowship in Cardiology at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago. At Porter, Dr. Sehgal is a member of the Critical Care Committee and the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee.

 

Joseph Venditti, MD, is a cardiothoracic surgeon. Dr. Venditti earned his medical degree from the University of Paris in Pavia, Italy. He completed his internship and residency at State University of New York at Buffalo where he pursued a cardio-thoracic specialty. He is a member of Porter’s Board and has been on the medical staff since 1985.

 

 

Michael Wheat, MD, earned his medical degree from the University of South Alabama’s School of Medicine in Mobile, Alabama. He completed a fellowship at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital in Chicago and completed a Cardiac MRI/CT fellowship at the Care Group, LLC at the Heart Center of Indiana. He is board certified in both cardiovascular disease and internal medicine.
