Helping Hearts Get Back in Rhythm

A cardiac arrhythmia or heart rhythm disorder is a disturbance of the electrical system of the heart that causes it to beat too slowly, too fast or irregularly. A very common condition, arrhythmias affect approximately 10 million patients in the United States.

For almost five years, the Center for Heart Rhythm Disorders at the Valparaiso Hospital Campus has helped inpatients and outpatients with a wide variety of cardiac arrhythmias to "stay on pace."

One of the newest technologies we've employed is the Cognis Cardiac Resynchronization Defibrillator
or CRT-D for short.

It's the thinnest in the WORLD.

Porter’s electrophysiology specialists perform diagnostic procedures to locate and assess irregular heart rhythms, and then provide effective treatment such as ablation therapy or the implanting of a cardiac pacemaker or defibrillator.
