Blending Technology and Technological Expertise for Your Health

Porters offers a wide array of diagnostic technologies from traditional x-ray to the most advanced high-field, open MRI available today.  In July 2008, Porter introduced 64-slice CT technology. The 64-slice technology is so quick and provides such clear images; it can capture a heart between beats.

The 64-slice CT is another tool for physicians looking to diagnose heart disease in its earliest stages. Having the technology available allows specially trained radiologists and cardiologists at Porter to obtain the best snapshots of the function and structure of the heart -- non-invasively.

At Porter, we believe that advancing technology works best when it is coupled with staff expertise. The health system has highly trained staff to obtain the best images possible. Porter also has in place a unique collaboration between interventional radiologists and cardiologists who work as a team to provide you with the very best interpretations of the heart and vessel images provided by both the 64-slice CT and high-field, wide open MRI.

Imaging Services:

  • Diagnostic X-rays
  • Ultrasound (both vascular and obstetrical)
  • CT – featuring both first and second generation technology – 16-slice as well as 64-slice units.
  • Fluoroscopy
  • Nuclear medicine
  • DEXA bone density scanning
  • Mammography
  • PET/CT – oncology imaging that combines positron emission tomography (PET) with axial tomography (CT) to locate cancerous cells anywhere in the body.

Porter’s PET/CT – Blending Technology for Your Care

In addition, Porter has a free-standing PET/CT conveniently located in Chesterton.
Porter’s Siemens PET/CT is located at the Northwest Indiana PET/CT Center, 1505 South Calumet Road, Chesterton. The technology is used to pinpoint cancer cells in the body.

Computerized radiography has eliminated the need for film and allows for all imaging studies performed at Porter to be stored digitally. All imaging studies are stored on PACS – a picture archiving computerized system – which makes them easily accessible to radiologists at Porter and to your physician.
