Porter has dedicated itself to the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and diseases of the bones and spine.

From Porter's high-field diagnostic imaging equipment that help doctors visualize the ailment to the highly skilled, highly trained orthopedic surgeons who perform procedures that range from setting simple fractures to complex surgeries - knee and hip replacements to spinal surgeries that remedy scoliosis and degenerative conditions of the spine.

In 2008, Porter became the first health system in Northwest Indiana to purchase the OSI Pro FX surgical table - an addition to the health system's surgical suite that makes possible minimally invasive, muscle-sparing hip replacement surgery. Patients go home sooner and without the restrictions they have with traditional hip replacement surgery.

Porter also has established the Joint Replacement Center at Porter and the Spinal Care Center at Porter, innovative treatment areas at the Valparaiso Hospital Campus created for patients who undergo hip or knee replacement surgery.
