Porter’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit specializes in an intensive, individualized approach, with each patient receiving a full three hours of one-on-one therapy each day – broken up into manageable sessions.
The only program of its kind in Porter County, the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit offers 11 beautifully appointed, private rooms plus a small kitchen and laundry area for patients to improve their skills in the activities of daily living.

A complete staff including nurses therapists dietitian social worker and rehabilitation coordinator help patients reach their own goals.

The unit is ideal for patients recovering from stroke, spinal cord injury, or neurological dysfunction who need a combination of therapies – including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy.

Porter's Inpatient Rehab Unit
Nursing Mix Mostly RN’s and some LPN’s
Rehab Services Interdisciplinary approach to include physical, occupational and/or speech therapies to increase functional independence and improve quality of life
Therapy At least 3 hours of active therapy per day
Rehab Staffing Full-time on site for consistency of care and treatment
Access to Physicians 24-hours per day
Treatment Planning Weekly review and planning of treatment and progress by entire team
Length of Stay Short-term with goal of highest level of independence, average 10-14 days
Family Involvement Family conference and education; involvement in goal setting and discharge planning | |
