Porter offers an innovative inpatient treatment program for patients recovering from hip or knee replacement surgery at our Valparaiso Hospital Campus. Our Joint Replacement Center combines specialized care from orthopedic surgeons and nurses with a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere for recovery. Throughout their four-day stay, our staff of specialized nurses and therapists provide positive reinforcement for patients each day through daily newsletters, words of encouragement and special meals with other patients and family members in a dining room located on the unit. Patients exercise together as a group, giving each other the support and encouragement they need for a successful recovery. And family members and friends are closely involved in the patient's recovery process, with one family member or friend serving as the patient's "coach" throughout the patient's hospital stay.
