Convenient, Comprehensive Testing 

With seven testing facilities located across Porter and into Jasper counties, Porter's laboratories offer easy and convenient access. 

Porter's labs perform nearly 1 million procedures each year.  The menu of lab tests numbers about 900 and includes blood bank services. All blood and blood products are made available through the American Red Cross. Autologous blood donations are available at the Valparaiso campus in conjunction with the American Red Cross. This allows patients to receive transfusions of their own blood during surgery when appropriate.Limited testing and complete phlebotomy services are performed on site at the various satellite labs.  

Porter’s laboratories have earned state and national recognition for the services they provide. The laboratory is overseen by board-certified clinical pathologists, and staffed by 100 Associates, including Medical Technologists, Medical Laboratory Technologists, Medical Assistants, Histologists and Microbiologists, who are certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathology. The health system's laboratories are fully accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks, the Indiana State Department of Health, and the College of American Pathologists. The College of American Pathologists is the world’s largest association composed exclusively of pathologists, and is widely considered the leader in laboratory quality assurance.
