Urology

Dr. Perlmutter is a graduate of New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and received postgraduate training at West Virginia University School of Medicine at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Dr. Perlmutter is one of only a handful of Urologic Oncologists in the state of Indiana.

Dr. Perlmutter has published a variety of clinical articles and has presented at national and international urological meetings.

Gynecology

Dr. Kurt Wiese was the first to perform a gynecological procedure, a hysterectomy, using the da Vinci robot here at Porter in July 2008. Since then, Dr. Wiese has watched his patients experience the benefits of the da Vinci Surgical System during their individual procedures.

Dr. Wiese is a graduate of St. Olaf College in Minnesota, as well as the University of Illinois School of Medicine. He completed his training in obstetrics/gynecology at Wayne State University in Michigan. Dr. Wiese has been performing minimally invasive surgical procedures throughout his entire career and is excited at the amazing results the candidates for the da Vinci surgical system will experience at Porter.

Dr. Murphy graduated from Emory University and the University of Illinois School of Medicine. She performed her residency in obstetrics/gynecology at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Dr. Murphy is board certified in obstetrics/gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and has presented on numerous topics at Obstetric and Gynecology conferences within Illinois.

Dr. Murphy is impressed with how the da Vinci system, through the high-definition 3D vision, has provided enhanced visualization and a magnified view of the surgical site, allowing increased precision and better control during surgery.

Dr. Short is a graduate from Southern Illinois University and the University of Illinois College of Medicine. She completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of Chicago - Chicago Lying-In Hospital in Chicago, Illinois and is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Short is a member of the American Medical Association, American Medical Women's Association, Chicago Medical Society, Illinois State Medical Society and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. As one of the five obstetrician/gynecologists trained on the da Vinci Surgical System at Porter, Dr. Short is confident her patients will recognize and benefit from the surgical advancements the new robotic surgical system will offer, including less pain and scarring and a faster recovery time.

Dr. Kobak is a graduate of Northwestern University in Illinois, and completed his pre-medical studies at Loyola University in Chicago and received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Kobak completed his obstetrics/gynecology residency at Southern California Medical Center and his Advanced Pelvic Surgery/Urogynecology fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Dr. Kobak is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as the National Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Kobak has been performing minimally invasive surgical procedures using the da Vinci Robotic Surgerical System since September 2008.
